In the mouth, the infection is called oral thrush. When the infection spreads deeper into the throat it is called esophagitis.

In the vagina, the infection is called yeast infection or vaginal thrush. On the penis, it is known as penile thrush.

Candida can also spread and cause infection in the brain, heart, joints and eyes.
