What positions in the mouth do oral thrush affect? 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello everyone,

I'm a 47 year old male and a new member to this forum. I believe I suffer from something called Oral Thrush, aka Mouth Thrush, but I'm not a 100% sure.
I have white patches on my tongue, white spots on the inside cheeks and a whitish deep pocket like area where the cheek meets the gumline around the lower jaw. When felt by the tongue it feels "strange". My physician diagnosed them to be thrush. Are they thrush? and do oral thrush actually affect all above areas? Please advice

Clark,

Yes, thrush is common on the tongue and the areas you describe. It looks like a furry white appearance on the tongue, and inside of cheeks. Those are the most common places but it can also hit the vestibule between your lips and teeth as you mentioned.
The proper medical name for this thrush infection is oral candiasis, aka oral thrush/mouth thrush. It's easily treated with antibiotics, however, it may be recurrent due to the corticosteroids?!! ...And that's the no1 reason why so many prefer using all natural remedies without any side effects

Correct, oral thrush is a condition in which the fungus candida albicans (thrush) accumulates on the lining of your mouth. Oral thrush causes creamy white lesions, usually on your tongue and inner cheeks. The lesions can be painful and may bleed slightly when you scrape them. Sometimes oral thrush may spread to the roof of your mouth, your gums, tonsils and the back of your throat.
